The Spider and the Fly --Famous poem by Mary Howitt

The Spider and the Fly
by: Mary Howitt

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

"I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;
Will you rest upon my little bed?" said the Spider to the Fly.
"There are pretty curtains drawn around; the sheets are fine and thin,
And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!"
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"

Said the cunning Spider to the Fly, " Dear friend what can I do,
To prove the warm affection I 've always felt for you?
I have within my pantry, good store of all that's nice;
I'm sure you're very welcome -- will you please to take a slice?"
"Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "kind Sir, that cannot be,
I've heard what's in your pantry, and I do not wish to see!"

"Sweet creature!" said the Spider, "you're witty and you're wise,
How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!
I've a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf,
If you'll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself."
"I thank you, gentle sir," she said, "for what you 're pleased to say,
And bidding you good morning now, I'll call another day."

The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den,
For well he knew the silly Fly would soon come back again:
So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,
And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly.
Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing,
"Come hither, hither, pretty Fly, with the pearl and silver wing;
Your robes are green and purple -- there's a crest upon your head;
Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead!"

Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little Fly,
Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by;
With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew,
Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue --
Thinking only of her crested head -- poor foolish thing! At last,
Up jumped the cunning Spider, and fiercely held her fast.
He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,
Within his little parlour -- but she ne'er came out again!

And now dear little children, who may this story read,
To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:
Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye,
And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.

Prince Charming - funny poem

PRINCE CHARMING

Castle dark in dead of night

Turret window burning bright,

Treading softly, Princess waiting

Eagerly anticipating

Charming Prince with Love's first kiss,

Happy Ever After bliss.

Cross the courtyard, cold hard stone,

Ice wind chills him to the bone,

Up the steps now breathing harder

Nothing dampens Prince's ardour,

Climbing swiftly to the tower,

This will be Love's finest hour.

Reach the top, nay, climb no more,

Sheathe
thy broadsword, there's the door,

Trapdoor opens - sliding - where?

Down to dark deep dragon's lair,

Quest is over, funeral pyre,

Prince consumed by dragon fire.

JUDGEMENT DAY POEM

Apocalypse
End of the world
We all go up in flames
Mountains turn to rubble
The living go insane.

Seas swell
The Earth shakes
Humans shiver in fear
Who will escape disgrace?
The Final Hour is here.

The irony
As the Creator destroys
What He once created
Ridding the world of all her sin
A judgement much belated.

To Heaven
To Hell
He sends souls left and right
Some destined to burn
While others live in light.

Armageddon
The Day of Reckoning;
A day we all fear
It's closer than you think
In fact......... It's already here.

Fate poem

Everything happens for a reason
And fate controls our life
When the world seems to fall apart
Just remember why

There's always a brighter future
On the other side of the fence
It may take a while to get there
But in the end it will all make sense

When you start to believe you're a failure
Just keep in mind
That someday soon, a time will come
To let your true colors shine

Light from Another World ---Poem

Light from another world - Dean Thorpe

The lights up in the sky, they shine down on my face
Not from this world of ours, from deep in outer space
I bet they are so smart, not like the human race
They look down on our world, observe from a safe place
Study the way we live, create a database
How often do the come, our fields do they deface
And if you try to tell, they call you a nutcase
I wish I could go too, vanish across subspace

Never Alone Lyrics

Artist: Brickman Jim
Song: Never Alone
Album: Escape

May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when its time to go home
May you always have plenty
The glass never empty
Know in your belly
You're never alone

May your tears come from laughing
You find friends worth having
As every year passes
They mean more than gold
May you win and stay humble
Smile more than grumble
And know when you stumble
You're never alone

Chorus: Never alone
Never alone
I'll be in every beat of your heart
When you face the unknown
Wherever you fly
This isn't goodbye
My love will follow you stay with you
Baby you're never alone

I have to be honest
As much as I wanted
I’m not gonna promise that cold winds won't blow
So when hard times have found you
And your fears surround you
Wrap my love around you
You're never alone

Chorus

My love will follow you stay with you
Baby you're never alone

So when hard times have found you
And your fears surround you
Wrap my love around you
You're never alone

I'm Sorry---- Poem

I'm Sorry
© By Anonymous

I'm sorry for the times you cried,
and the
loneliness you felt inside.
I'm sorry for the way things were,
and the selfishness that you endured.
I'm sorry for the nights we lost,
and the deep pain it must have
cost.
I'm sorry for the love you missed,
losing you helped me realize this.
I'm sorry I wasn't the man you deserved,
this has been the hardest lesson learned.
I'm sorry I wasn't there to show,
the deepest love you'll ever know.
I'm sorry for the empty days,
and the
stresses that you still yet pay.
I'm sorry for the way I left,
I've never felt so much regret.
I'm sorry for the heart I broke,
that shattered with the words I spoke.
I'm sorry for the empty space,
that laid beside you in my place.
I'm sorry for the empty arms,
you fell into when times were hard.
